Tree Work Applications, Stevenage

Tree work application form TPO and Conservation Area
Some trees are protected by a Tree Preservation Order (TPO). For protection purposes, a TPO is issued as a legal mechanism to conserve and protect trees for public enjoyment, environmental and beauty purposes. Trees that are under a preservation order need a tree work application submitted to the relevant local Council for felling and pruning in most cases (exceptions being if the tree is dead or in a dangerous condition, however the Council still needs to be notified).

We can check with the Council for you and submit an application on your behalf for tree work, before carrying out the approved tree alterations.  Tree Surgeons & Surgery Stevenage will also carry out the required notifications if a tree is dead or dangerous, including preliminary investigations, and of course the required removal and remediation.

Trees within a Conservation Area also benefit from Local Authority protection where removal or lopping/pruning is required.  This applies to trees with a diameter of 7.5cm or more at a height of at least 1.5m above ground level, or 10cm diameter if thinning to help the growth of other trees.  There are exceptions, which we can also advise you on.  The application process to carry out tree work within a Conservation Area can also be completed by us.

We will send our arboricultural consultants to assess the tree(s) in question and begin the preparations for the application process. Liaising with the Local Authority Planning Department, our company makes it possible for the clients to get detailed information regarding protected trees on their land. Here are some reasons why trees may be under the preservation order.
  • To ensure the ecological system is maintained.
  • Trees under conserved areas e.g. woodlands.
  • To secure and protect trees from unnecessary felling and wilful destruction.
  • A tree that provide public amenity benefits.

However there are reasons why a tree may need tree services even if it is under preservation order. When a preserved tree is an imminent danger to the public and property and there is enough proof to justify the reasons then we offer tree services with immediate effect.
With the help of our experienced tree surgeons we provide a report explaining the reasons for working on the tree. Once the application has been submitted, the council has a period of six weeks to consider the proposal. In respect to trees under preservation order the council takes a period of eight weeks. Once approved or if the Council does not object, we can begin the required alterations.

With excellent reviews from our clients we ensure that we take due diligence when dealing with trees under preservation and conservation. The safety of both the tree and the public is a top priority for us. Our tree surgeons ensure that they do a proper assessment to facilitate effective services are issued. According to the proposed services by our arborists, we make certain to do a good job from start to finish. The reason why many people seek our services is the after-services that our company offers.
